THE OFFICIAL CODEX OF NULL ISLAND

Decreed by the Sovereign Buoy of the Gulf of Guinea

Welcome to Null Island the finest definition of a prospering island, a coordinates-based real estate on the planet!

CHAPTER I: Sovereign Status & Geography

Article 1: The Nature of the Realm

Null Island is a sovereign, floating digital micronation existing simultaneously in the Atlantic Ocean and inside every poorly coded database on Earth.

Article 2: Territorial Boundaries

The Core Realm: A 1-meter radius centered precisely at coordinates (0.0, 0.0).

The Maritime Zone: Anywhere within splashing distance of the Soul Buoy (Station 13010).

The Digital Domain: Any spreadsheet column where a user forgot to input actual GPS data.

Article 3: National Symbols

The Flag: There are many different official flags, but they share the same common elements. They have 3 main colors; blue for the sea, orange for African celebration, and gray/white for taro, a staple food.

The Anthem: 4 minutes and 33 seconds of static, followed by the sound of a dial-up modem. (Better known as 4’33 by John Cage)

CHAPTER II: Citizenship & Immigration

Article 4: Acquisition of Citizenship

Citizenship is automatically granted to:
– Any traveler whose navigation app crashes mid-journey.
– Software developers who forget to handle NULL values in their databases.
– Automated weather sensors experiencing a momentary existential crisis.

Article 5: Visa Requirements

Visitors do not require a passport, but they must present a valid 404 Error: Destination Found certificate upon arrival.

Chapter III: Economy & Commerce

Article 6: National Currency

The official currency of Null Island is the Null Token ∅. It has no physical form, holds no financial value, and is highly volatile based on how many people are clearing their browser caches at any given moment.

Article 7: Import & Export

Primary Export: Confused automated data packets and lost delivery drivers.

Primary Imports:
– Valid coordinates (highly restricted; possession of actual latitude or longitude is considered a federal offense).
– Data points
– Deadly viruses

Chapter IV: Civil & Criminal Code

Article 8: High Crimes & Misdemeanors

The following acts are strictly prohibited within Null Island:
– String Parsing: Attempting to force the variable NULL to read as the text string “Null”.
– Data Validation: Implementing strict form inputs that prevent users from submitting blank location data. (This is considered an act of war against the island’s population growth).
– Anchoring: Dropping a physical anchor that disrupts the delicate balance of the Soul Buoy.

Article 9: Punishments

Violators of the Codex shall be sentenced to the Infinite Loop (where violators are forced to scroll through terms and conditions agreements without an “Accept” button for eternity).

Chapter V: Maritime & Buoy Law

Article 10: Supreme Authority of the Buoy

In the event of a constitutional crisis or a server outage, all legislative power defers to the autonomous weather buoy. If the buoy flashes a light, the motion carries. If the buoy is swallowed by a wave, the motion is tabled until the next tide.
